Hi, I’m Micah. I study economics at UW–Madison and work on AI safety community building with the Wisconsin AI Safety Initiative, where I’m on the policy team, run operations, facilitate a technical and a policy fellowship cohort, and help write the curriculum for both.

I think our generation’s greatest challenge will be making AI go well, and that it goes better when more thoughtful people are working on it. So I spend my time finding those people and connecting them with each other, mostly on the people side of AI safety: fieldbuilding, communications, and policy.

Most of my background is in organizing and advocacy. I’ve been an American Heart Association advocate for the past three years, including a year as Wisconsin State Chair, lobbying state legislators on heart-health policy. I also spent 6+ weeks in Berkeley this summer around AI safety professionals and university organizers.

Outside of work I enjoy running, weightlifting, going out to eat with friends, cooking and baking, and karaoke.
